What an interesting day!
Today the Crick hosted a group of potential future leaders from around the world, including a Director of Strategic Affairs, a customs official who is tackling illegal wildlife trade, an expert in urban development and a human rights lawyer.
Silvia had the privilege to share our lab’s interests and her career path with the group and answer the many questions the group had about the ongoing science in the lab and how efforts to promote diversity, women in Science and mentorship.
Off we went to beautiful Cambridge to the EMSO meeting on multicellular self-organisation. Alix and Borzo presented their exciting work on decoding cellular systems using human and mouse ES cells and Silvia gave a talk at the meeting.
Big shout out to Ollie, new PhD student who will join the lab in September, and came to join us at the conference.
Silvia joined this awesome group at the EMBO management course. It was a week fulfilled with lots of ideas for managing teams and help create a nurturing, motivating research environment.
Thank you to all involved in organising and running the course!
